Dr Helen Hynes
Helen is a medical graduate from University College Cork (UCC) (1992). A Member of the Irish College of General Practitioners, she has extensive clinical experience in the fields of General Practice and Emergency Medicine. She obtained a Masters Degree with Distinction from Queen’s University Belfast in the field of Medical Education in 2009, which was also the year she was appointed as a lecturer in UCC’s Medical Education Unit. She teaches in the School of Medicine and in the ASSERT for Health Centre at UCC. Her areas of particular research interest are simulation, patient safety and active and healthy ageing. She is a co-investigator on UCC’s PATIENT project team (527620-LLP-1-2012-1-NL-ERASMUS-FEXI PATIENT) and in UCC’s joint bid to become a Reference Site in the European Innovation Project on Active and Healthy Ageing. Helen was awarded the President’s Prize for Research on Innovative Forms of Teaching and Learning in 2011 for a project on Patient Safety Education.
