Dr. Catherine Sweeney, BA, MB, BCh, BAO, MICGP
Catherine is a medical graduate of University of Dublin Trinity College (1988). She works as a clinician and a teacher. Her clinical role is as Medical Director – Service for Older People in St Patrick’s University Hospital. She is currently completing a Master Degree in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education in UCC. She co-ordinates an undergraduate interdisciplinary module in palliative care and her areas of research interest are interdisciplinary teamwork, palliative care education and active and healthy aging. She is a member of the research steering committee of the All Ireland Institute of Hospice and Palliative Care. She is a co-investigator on BioDesign, an interdisciplinary project funded as an Erasmus Multilateral Project (http://www.bioapp.eu) and in UCC’s joint bid to become a Reference Site in the European Innovation Project in Active and Healthy Ageing. She is a collaborator on the Let Me Decide initiative and is developing an educational e-learning package in palliative care.
